Ever hear you can’t change a person unless they want to be changed? Same thing goes for us. We can’t change ourselves if we don’t want to change. We might think we want to change. And we might think we are ready to change, but then we don’t. Having a reason to change for the better and a vision for your life is the first step to becoming a happier, well-rounded person.
All too frequently we think these things, but in actuality we are nowhere ready for change. If we were, we would be doing it instead of thinking about it and then continuing to do nothing.
Change can be scary. It means working hard, consciously thinking about our thoughts and actions, and becoming someone different. Although these can all be great things, it is scary imagining yourself as a different person and doing things that are out of the ordinary for you. When you’re unhappy as can be, but doing nothing about it, you are comfortably miserable. And there is some strange sense of familiarity and comfort in feeling this way.
We all have bad habits, bad days, bad attitudes, and bad behaviors that all lead to some type of complaining. We are all very capable of changing our habits, our days, our attitudes, and our behaviors though. The problem is that we settle for the bad instead of changing it to become good. Maybe it is laziness or just plain fear, but if you can become better, why wouldn’t you work on yourself to get to that place?
Here are some motives to help you realize why you need to change for the better:
To Be Successful In Life
In order to be successful in life, you need to get out of your comfort zone. You need to be able to take action and roll with the punches. Nothing comes easy and if you stop when things get hard, you won’t end up achieving your goals.
Allow yourself to become uncomfortable. Believe in yourself. And most importantly, allow change to happen in your life, even if it doesn’t feel great in the moment. These small changes overtime can lead to an enormous amount of success in your life. But, you need to be willing to allow it to happen and not mentally hold yourself back.
To Find Your Path
If you are struggling to figure out what to do in your life, change is going to be the most important thing to do on your list. There is just no way you are going to be able to come upon your destiny if you’re not trying new things.
It will be scary to go venture out into a bunch of new things, but without this exposure, it will be difficult to find the thing that perfectly suits you. Try everything that peaks your interest.
To Prove To Yourself That You Are Capable
Have you ever seen someone do something pretty amazing and think to yourself, I could do that too? But then you don’t ever take the action to actually make it happen?
Do it for yourself and nobody else. Decide to do something so that you can finally prove to yourself that you can do it, like you always knew you could.
To Be the Person You Always Wanted To Be
A lot of us sit around watching other people live their lives to the fullest, wishing we could have the same. The thing is, you can have the same, but it won’t just magically appear. Without changing yourself for the better, this would be impossible to achieve.
Identify what characteristics you admire in others and visualize how you wish you were. How you acted when things happened. How you approached different situations. And then make the conscious decision to change your actions little by little. Whether it’s being more positive, more active, more hardworking, etc. Make the decision and take action to change your life for the better.
To Be Happy, Well-Rounded Person
Your overall happiness depends on you growing as a person. If you stay still in life and make no changes, you’re not progressing. Staying stagnant can truly affect your happiness in life. Doing nothing or the same thing over and over again will get old fast.
Remembering to focus on your happiness is one of the greatest motives to making a change in your life.
Whenever you’re in a rut or feeling like you are lost, remember that change is at the source of altering your life for the better. In order to be a happier, well-rounded person, you need to work on yourself.
Please, care enough about yourself to do the work. Remember – whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.
