20 Amazing Ways To Make An Extra $500 This Month

While budgeting and saving is a great way to take control of your money, you should also be focusing on different ways to earn more money. Whether you need extra money for something specific or if you just want to better your finances overall, making more can help you exponentially. This month try out something new and see if you can make an extra $500 to go towards your debt, savings, or a fun trip! Here are some different things to try out and make more this month!

1. Take on Freelance Work

If you’re looking for temporary work, consider freelancing. Common freelancing opportunities include writing, editing, proofreading, data entry, transcription, marketing, PR, and graphic design.

2. Become a Virtual Assistant

If you’re not looking to commute somewhere for extra work, then consider becoming a virtual assistant. You’d essentially do the same type of thing an in-office assistant would do, but remotely. This includes research, correspondence, managing the calendar, making travel arrangements, and much more.

3. Start a Part Time Job

If you’re looking to make extra money this month, pick up a part time job. You can become a barista, bartender, waitress, sales associate, receptionist, or really anything else that’s offered part time.

4. Nanny or Babysit

If you love children, consider becoming a nanny or babysitter on the weekends. You can easily find babysitting gigs online on places like Care.com. You can earn a great amount depending on your experience and how many kids you’re watching at once.

5. Walk Dogs

If you love dogs, then consider dog walking! It gets you out of the house, gets you some exercise, some extra cash, and you get to hang with an adorable dog!

6. Drive for Uber or Lyft

Use your car to make you some money by becoming an Uber or Lyft driver. You can make some great money and work whenever you have free time. Truly the best part about ride sharing is that it works really well for someone who has a hectic schedule.

7. House Sitting

When people go on vacation for a while, they often will hire a house sitter to look after the house, check their mail, water their plants, etc. It’s a quick and easy method to make some extra money on the side.

8. Organize Houses

If you are a master organizer, give professional organization a go! Put out flyers and ads online to help those who need a bit of help organizing their house or moving into a new space.

9. Groom Dogs

If grooming dogs is a skill you have, then pick it up as way to make some extra cash. Who wouldn’t want to spend the day with adorable furry friends?

10. Tutor

Pick up a tutoring gig online or in person for extra money. Not only will you be adding to your wallet, but you’ll be helping someone learn. You can help young kids all the way up to college students with their studies and feel great about helping someone learn something new.

11. Sell Items On Craigslist or OfferUp

Use Craigslist and OfferUp to sell items in your house locally. You can sell something that same day and avoid the hassle of shipping. Think furniture, tools, electronics, home décor, and appliances.

12. Sell Old Clothes

There are a ton of different methods to selling your old clothes. You can sell them in a store like Plato’s closet or a consignment shop, or online through EBay, Poshmark, or ThredUp. Pick your method to sell, and get to work!

13. Sell Vintage Clothes To Popular Etsy Store Owners

Something unique I’ve done before to make extra money was to buy vintage clothes from thrift stores and Goodwill for a very discounted price and then sell the clothes in bulk to a popular Etsy store owner.

I was able to save time by not having to take pictures of each item, posting each item, and maintaining a store, while the storeowner got to skip the hassle of shopping for clothes to add to their store. A win-win situation for everyone!

14. Host a Garage Sale

If you have a lot of things to get rid of in your house, consider hosting a garage sale to sell your old stuff. Even if you don’t have enough stuff to host a garage sale, you can see if your neighbors would be willing to host one with you so there is enough stuff for your customers to peruse.

15. Rent a Spare Room

If you have a spare room in your house, you should consider renting it out to a friend, family member, or even a new roommate. Depending on how much space you have in your house, you could even setup a mother-in-law suite or apartment to rent out.

16. Rent Your Car

If you’re going out of town or don’t use your car during the week or on weekends, consider renting your car for the day. There are a ton of online marketplaces to list your car, but make sure to always do your research and pick a reputable company to work with.

17. Rent Out Storage Space

Similarly to renting a spare room, if you have a bunch of storage space in your house, garage, or even on your driveway, you could rent that extra space. Someone may be looking to store their things somewhere cheaper than a typical storage unit or may be looking for storage for something large like an RV or car they aren’t using.

18. Build and Sell Furniture

If you’re talented at woodworking, put your skills to work! People are always looking for unique furniture to add to their house. Look for what’s popular and put a new spin on it. A quality piece of furniture can easily be sold for $500.

19. Make and Sell Jewelry

There are so many people in the world with so many different styles. If you’re passionate about jewelry or struggle finding the right jewelry for you, I challenge you to create it. If you find it difficult to find something you like, that means other people struggle with it as well and might really love what you come up with and purchase it.

20. Sell Your Artwork

If you’re an artist, you should try to share your art with the world. Craft fairs are a great place to sell your masterpieces. You can also sell art online. Get creative and try making coasters, wall art, sculptures, or centerpieces. People love to decorate their houses and what better way than to offer a unique item to add to their home décor!

Whether providing a service or selling an item, there are tons of different ways to make more money this month and help with your finances!
